In our 'My time at HFG' series, we ask our new employees how it has been settling in to life at HFG in order to gain a better understanding of the challenges new staff face and the aspects they most enjoy!
Next up is Roberto Lushi, an Associate Consultant within our Finance team who has just had his six month anniversary at HFG.
'As someone new to recruitment, beginning my career in the industry has been an interesting and eye-opening experience. My degree in Economics has been an invaluable asset and has helped me understand both the financial aspects of insurance policies and the impact they have on clients. This allowed me to understand the needs of clients as well as what roles would fit the experience and aspirations of potential candidates.
The unseen side of recruiting is no doubt the administrative work which includes the detailed processing of applications and keeping track of each candidate’s information. Organisation is key as a recruiter and my economics background has helped me stay organised and manage my time effectively, which has been essential. Following the steps I have been taught ultimately makes mine and the lead consultant’s jobs easier.
The transition I made from a hospitality background to an office environment was equally as challenging as it was exciting. Settling in has no doubt been made easier by plenty of office social events such as celebrating another successful quarter at one of the City’s bars or watching World Cup matches with the HFG team. My team (Finance) have been especially good at helping me integrate and having them around the office to ask for help or give me tips has been invaluable.
Overall, working as a recruiter in the insurance industry has been a great learning experience and one I am enjoying. I've gained a deeper understanding of the industry and how it affects people's lives and I'm excited to continue growing in this field with HFG!'
