Job description
A well backed mutual reinsurance business based in London are in the market for a talented and experienced Head of Finance. The role will reporting to the CFO and manage an overall team of 7 with 3 direct reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager/Controller looking to step into a Head of Finance position.
The key areas of responsibility will be:
- To plan and manage the preparation of the audited annual financial statements and the audited annual regulatory returns.
- To organise the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors through the audit process, ensuring complete and accurate disclosure of all material information and the implementation of any agreed recommendations.
- To plan and manage the preparation of financial and accounting information, including but not limited to: Annual budgeting, Management reporting, board reporting, regulatory reporting, Investment reporting and analysis.
- To manage the company's tax affairs and its relationship with the relevant taxation authorities
- To develop, document and maintain suitable systems of accounting and financial control.
- To manage and oversee the Finance function in conjunction with the CFO.
- To deputise for the CFO on financial matters as required (internal and external).
- To maintain and operate financial controls within the Finance Department, ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of receipts, payments, expenditure, income, assets and liabilities.
To be considered for this role you must have held a management role within a P&C insurance company (general insurance will also be considered) and have an excellent understanding of insurance accounting and IFRS 17. You will need to be able to maintain and develop a robust financial control environment and have a keen interest in process improvements and system developments. You need to be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder management competencies as well as leadership and development skills.
