NEW ROLE: Senior Underwriter - Facultative Financial Lines
City of London - Hybrid
Reinsurer

I am exculsivley partnered with a leading reinsurer who are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their Facultative Financial Lines team. This would suit someone on the direct side who has a strong technical Professional Indemnity Underwriting background, who may have had some involvement with Reinsurance/FAC Purchasing, who would be interested to move into a Reinsurance focused role. This role will also offer exposure to wider Casualty Fac products including US GL, Auto Liability and more.The role includes managing pricing and negotiations for standalone and bundled risks to drive portfolio growth

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand a profitable Financial Lines facultative portfolio for UK and Ireland-based cedents, written on both a single-risk and bundled basis.

  • Underwrite, price, structure, and negotiate individual facultative risks as well as bundled reinsurance schemes, programmes, and delegated authority arrangements across Financial Lines and the broader Cas Fac product suite.

  • Serve as a central technical underwriting resource for Financial Lines within the London branch and across the wider International Cas Fac network.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated success in building, growing, and profitably managing a sustainable Financial Lines portfolio.

  • Specialist expertise in Professional Indemnity or Medical Malpractice.

  • Knowledge of additional Financial Lines classes, including Commercial D&O and/or Financial Institutions products, advantageous but not essential.

  • Strong technical underwriting capability.

  • Commercially astute with a client-focused mindset.

  • Well-established network within the London market.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to less experienced underwriters.

  • High levels of drive, resilience, and intellectual curiosity, with a desire to deepen knowledge across a broad range of liability products.

  • Experience in strategic planning and business development to support departmental objectives.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • University degree preferred but not essential.

  • ACII qualification preferred but not essential.
