Job description
We have partnered with one of the largest commercial insurers to find them a Senior Catastrophe Analyst. This role will report directly to the Regional Catastrophe Risk Manager, and the successful candidate will take ownership of one of their portfolios - a business that includes D&F and Binders portfolios in the US and internationally. The role entails, but is not limited to:
- Ownership of the catastrophe management of the Property portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of account and portfolio analytics
- Be the conduit/centre of knowledge between the modelling team and the underwriters to ensure questions around modelled output are explained accurately and clearly, and keep up to date on both vendor model and proprietary model developments
- Ensure quarterly portfolio rollups are performed accurately and within set deadlines
- Drive the development of improved reporting and analytics
- Build a detailed understanding of the Property portfolio and develop catastrophe analytics which are aligned with business strategy and which provide underwriters with the knowledge to make strategic underwriting decisions
- Develop a good understanding of the relevant peril region data sensitivities of the vendor models used and build data quality enhancement protocols
- Produce the analytics required for annual business planning and portfolio reviews
- Produce exposure and loss estimate reports for event responses
- Provide analytics in support of the purchase of reinsurance
- Provide data to the Catastrophe Regulatory Team required for regulatory returns
- Contribute to the developments of automation (via BOTs, machine learning, A.I.) used to improve efficiencies in modelling and reporting
- Contribute to a variety of team wide projects
