We are seeking a proactive Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of a high-performing finance team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a solid grasp of bookkeeping who is looking to take ownership of end-to-end processes-from premium reconciliations to regulatory reporting-within a collaborative and flexible environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable & Expenses: Lead the end-to-end processing of purchase invoices and business expenses, ensuring strict adherence to internal controls and maintaining audit-ready records.

  • Premium & Dividend Management: Process and reconcile member premium receipts and dividend payments, partnering closely with Underwriting and Customer Engagement teams to resolve technical queries.

  • Cash Management: Monitor daily cash positions, manage inter-account transfers, and record movements to ensure liquidity and accurate reporting.

  • Reconciliations & Reporting: Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual regulatory submissions (VAT, ONS, and statutory filings).

  • Month-End Support: Assist with accounting journals, corporation tax tasks, and investment-related fund movements to ensure deadlines are met with high accuracy.

  • Audit Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, providing prompt information and supporting the resolution of queries.

Experience & Skills Required

  • A strong understanding of the basic principles of accounting and bookkeeping is essential. (preferably within Insurance)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is a distinct advantage.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage stakeholder relationships.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.A desire to commence or continue studying toward a professional accounting qualification (AAT/ACCA/CIMA) is highly preferred.
